Beard and Eyebrow transplant

How it works

Beard and Eyebrow Transplant

Achieve fuller, natural-looking beards and perfectly shaped eyebrows with our advanced hair restoration solutions. We specialize in

Sapphire Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Direct Hair Implantation (DHI)

Sapphire FUE and DHI, two of the most precise and minimally invasive techniques available.

We use Sapphire FUE, which employs ultra-sharp, medical-grade sapphire blades to extract and implant individual hair follicles with remarkable precision. This technique minimizes skin trauma, reduces scarring, and speeds up healing. As a result, you’ll experience high graft survival rates, natural density, and aesthetic outcomes with minimal downtime.

With DHI, we take restoration further. Our specialized implanter pen places follicles directly into the desired area, eliminating the need for channel creation. This method gives you complete control over the depth, direction, and angle of each graft, making it ideal for shaping delicate areas like the beard and eyebrows.

Whether you want to fill in sparse areas, reshape, or create a completely new look, our customized approach ensures results that are as unique as you are.

The procedure

Before a beard or eyebrow transplant, we gently cleanse the area to remove impurities and natural oils. Based on the doctor's recommendation, we use either the FUE or DHI technique. In both methods, we trim the donor area—usually the back of the scalp—to about 2mm. This trimming allows the Punch tool to glide smoothly around the hair shaft, revealing the natural exit angle of the follicles. This precision ensures we extract follicles carefully, minimizing the risk of graft damage. For beard and eyebrow restoration, this attention to detail is crucial to achieving natural direction and density in the recipient area.

Once the patient is ready for a beard or eyebrow transplant, they are comfortably positioned in either a reclining or seated position, based on the area being treated. Prior to starting, the donor and recipient areas are carefully outlined to guide the procedure, ensuring precision. Local anesthesia is then administered to provide a completely pain-free experience throughout the process.

The harvesting phase, which depends on the chosen technique—either FUE or DHI, as determined by the doctor’s evaluation—begins with gently loosening follicular units from the donor area using a precision punch tool. These units are then extracted with micro-forceps. Typically, an experienced surgical team can extract between 400 to 700 grafts per hour, and in some cases, two professionals may collaborate to maximize efficiency.

During the implantation phase, the technique used will dictate the approach. In FUE, tiny micro-perforations are created in the recipient area before placing the grafts, ensuring precise placement. In DHI, grafts are directly implanted using the Choi implanter pen, eliminating the need for pre-made incisions. Patients can remain relaxed during this stage, with many choosing to watch TV, read, or listen to music while the process continues.

The duration of the implantation phase varies depending on the number of grafts needed, with precision being essential for achieving the natural density and direction required in beard and eyebrow areas. Once the procedure is complete, the area is cleaned, and the doctor assesses the results. The patient receives comprehensive aftercare instructions and any necessary medications to ensure optimal healing and successful outcomes.

FUE and DHI techniques are ideal for beard and eyebrow transplants because they do not leave a linear scar, ensuring precision, minimal scarring, and a natural appearance. These methods are particularly well-suited for individuals who want clean, well-defined facial hair lines or those with active lifestyles who require minimal downtime. They also offer significant advantages for patients dissatisfied with older FUT procedures or those with tight scalp skin. In these cases, FUE or DHI allows for targeted harvesting and careful implantation to improve density or conceal old scars with natural-looking results.

Many patients are attracted to beard or eyebrow transplants using FUE or DHI because they are considered minimally invasive. While these are indeed advanced micro-surgical methods, it's important to recognize that they still require precision instruments and medical expertise. The key innovation of these methods lies in their harvesting and implantation techniques: FUE uses tiny, circular micro-punches to extract individual follicles with minimal trauma, while DHI allows for direct implantation without the need for pre-made incisions. With both methods, any visible signs typically fade within 48 to 72 hours, making them discreet and recovery-friendly options for facial hair restoration.

It’s completely normal for most of the transplanted beard or eyebrow hairs to fall out around three weeks after the procedure. This shedding phase marks the beginning of the follicles’ natural resting stage, during which no new hair is produced. This is a standard part of the healing process and can vary in duration depending on the individual, typically lasting between 3 to 6 months.

Hair regrowth happens gradually, and patients can expect the following timeline on average:

  • Around 10% regrowth by month 3

  • 20% to 30% regrowth by months 4 to 5

  • 40% to 50% regrowth by months 6 to 7

  • 60% to 70% regrowth by months 8 to 9

  • 80% to 90% regrowth by months 10 to 12

Over time, the transplanted hairs will thicken, soften, and take on a natural appearance. Patience is key—as final results typically become visible within the first year post-transplant.
